Seasonal recipes for the everyday cook inspired by New Jersey farm-fresh produce.
My Story
Hey! I’m Sarah. I am passionate about helping people make the most of fresh, seasonal food.

I have always had an affection to food and learned my way through the kitchen by watching my family cook, reading countless cookbooks, and plenty of trial-and-error. I’ve lived in New Jersey, “the Garden State,” my whole life which led me to discover the difference in using local, farm-fresh foods versus what you can find at the grocery store.
One of my favorite things is walking around the farmers market and seeing all the glowing faces admiring the vibrant tomatoes, chatting with a farmer, and taste testing a plump blueberry.

Enjoying the harvest of seasonal, local food is healthy for your body and for your mind. Fresh produce, grown in season and as close to you as possible will have the best flavor and the best nutrition.
The Name Salt Jar
Salt is one of the few elements in every type of cuisine and it has the ability to make each flavor more powerful. Nearly every recipe requires some kind of salt. Plus, my initials are sel, the translation of salt in French. Read more about why I named my business Salt Jar.

What to Expect
At Salt Jar, you will find simple, seasonal recipes made with local New Jersey produce.
The recipes will feature the kind of food that gathers a family for a meal, is accessible to everyone at the table, and comes together effortlessly.
I live by 3 basic food rules:
- Local first
- Fresh is best
- Everything tastes better when you eat it with good people and/or good wine
