Life needs balance.
After a big social event like the Super Bowl, it’s normal to feel heavy and bogged down from all the delicious (but not so nutritious) food you enjoyed.
My favorite cure? A green smoothie packed with ginger and lots of good-for-you fruits and veggies including kale, bananas, and pears.
Smoothies are perfect for days like this because:
1. Packed with nutritious power
2. Tasty without being overwhelming
3. Incredibly easy – just throw it all in a blender and go!
This is the first smoothie I’ve made in a while, and now I remember why. We don’t have a blender! Our old blender was about $20 and doesn’t have the power to chop any solid foods. But I was seriously craving a smoothie, so I made this in the food processor, then mixed it more with an immersion blender. I don’t recommend this method, but I was determined and made it work.
So here’s the plan: for Valentine’s day, Dan is getting me a blender and I’m getting him a new coffee maker. We’re so romantic, right?
And naturally, the drink had to be green.
Here in Philly, the energy is wild and everything is green. Everywhere you go, you can hear the Eagles chant and everyone is happy.
The parade is scheduled for Thursday and they’re expecting at least 2 million people to flood the city to celebrate this historic win. Schools are closed, workplaces are closing or having their staff work from home. I’ll be skipping my commute from South Jersey through the city out to the Philly suburbs in favor of working from home.
