Homemade Pie Crust

All butter, crispy, and easy as pie (sorry, I had to) this homemade pie crust recipe will be your new go-to.

Making your own pie crust sounds super intimidating, right? Why not get the refrigerated, rolled up version at the grocery store? BECAUSE THIS IS SO EASY. It’s made in the food processor, you don’t need to remember to soften the butter, and it only needs to refrigerate for an hour (which is almost exactly how long it takes to cut and prepare all the apples for an apple pie, in case you were wondering).

Pie Crust

In all honesty, I don’t think I’ll ever buy store-bought crust again.

All Purpose Pie Crust

Created by Sarah on May 15, 2017

  • Prep Time: 1h 20m
  • Total Time: 1h 20m
  • Serves: 1
  • Yield: 2 pie crusts

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c flour
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 c butter
  • 2/3 c cold water

Instructions

  1. Cut butter into small pieces and place in refrigerator for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Add flour, sugar, salt and cold butter pieces to food processor and pulse until combined. The mixture should still have pea-sized butter chunks.
  3. Working 1 tablespoon at a time, add water and pulse 4 times. Add only enough water for the batter to begin to pull away from the sides of the food processor. I used 10 tablespoons total.
  4. Pour the mixture onto a work surface and mold into a ball. Split the ball into two and wrap each ball in plastic wrap. Refrigerate 1-24 hours. Remove from refrigerator a few minutes before needed. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough to desired size.
