Ingredients
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c chocolate chips
- 1/4 c raw sugar (optional)
- 2 c flour
- 1/4 cut sugar
- 1 tbsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 6 tbsp. butter
- 1 egg
- 7 tbsp. milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Dice butter and add to flour mixture. Use a potato masher or fork to cut butter into the flour mixture, until butter is pea-sized.
- In a small bowl, combine egg, milk, and vanilla, mix well. Add to flour mixture and mix until well combined.
- Pour batter onto a floured surface and top with chocolate chips. Knead batter 2-3 times and shape into two rounds, each about 1 inch high.
- Cut rounds diagonally into 6 scones each, like a pizza.
- Move scones onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and top with turbinado sugar, if using. Bake 10-12 minutes.
