  • Prep Time: 15m
  • Cook Time: 12m
  • Total Time: 30m
  • Serves: 12 scones

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c chocolate chips
  • 1/4 c raw sugar (optional)
  • 2 c flour
  • 1/4 cut sugar
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 6 tbsp. butter
  • 1 egg
  • 7 tbsp. milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Dice butter and add to flour mixture. Use a potato masher or fork to cut butter into the flour mixture, until butter is pea-sized.
  3. In a small bowl, combine egg, milk, and vanilla, mix well. Add to flour mixture and mix until well combined.
  4. Pour batter onto a floured surface and top with chocolate chips. Knead batter 2-3 times and shape into two rounds, each about 1 inch high.
  5. Cut rounds diagonally into 6 scones each, like a pizza.
  6. Move scones onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and top with turbinado sugar, if using. Bake 10-12 minutes.
