Sweet and Spicy Apple Pie

Apple pie with a little bit of extra spice and a little bit of extra zest. A homemade crust. A winning combination.



  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, toss cut apples with lemon juice.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine zest, sugars, flour, and spices. Add spice mixture to apples and toss.
    Pour apples into pie crust and top with small pieces of butter.
  4. Top with remaining pie crust (or lattice crust) and pinch sides closed. Brush top crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with 1 tsp raw sugar. If using a full crust, cut slits in the top to release air
  5. Bake for 40 minutes until the top is golden brown. Rest for at least 30 minutes before cutting.
  6. Serve with vanilla bean ice cream and/or whipped cream.
